POETRY: THE ART OF WORDS/MIKE AMADO MEMORIAL SERIES The Plymouth Center for the Arts 11 North St, Plymouth
FEBRUARY 10, 2013
Poetry Features
TIM REED started exploring his poetic gift in 1990 as he embarked on a journey of discovery. His journey led him to take a long and hard look at, himself, his life and his goals and aspirations for life. While looking at these things, he awakened the gift of poetry within him and has since embraced it as the gift that it is, for expression, explosion, and healing. Tim draws on the vast education he earned as a “student” of life experience! In his words, “When things touch me or move me in some way…I write.” Tim entered the poetry community in the summer of 2010 as a guest poet along with Patricia Gomes at a Gallery X event. There, he met Louise Derry Wells who, touched by his writing style, later produced the event “Recovery…A Journey Home” at the Middleboro Library which he was the host and feature of, in February 2011. That same month he won The Future Feature Poetry Award at Sean Theall’s venue “Poetry at the Main Street Café” and was the feature poet in March of 2011. Tim has since featured at Poetry in the Village, did a co-feature with four other poets including Ms. Gomes at the Mattapoisett Public Library in celebration of National Poetry Month, as well as Dreamspeak, and Poets Pathway. Tim has stepped up to the mic at many venues including both the North and South Shores . Tim has been published in; the compilation “Rhymes of Greatness” in 1998, and most recently in the online literary journal “The Write Place At the Right Time” winter/spring issue which is available as of Jan. 22, 2013.
LOUISE DERY-WELLS is a poet, writer, producer, psychotherapist and contemporary shaman  who has enjoyed creating multi arts events through her venue in the Middleboro area “Arts From The Heart”.  Her work presently centers on creating unique personal growth experiences in her workshops and seminars and on social change through her newspaper column “Hard Times” for the South Coast Media Group.
